Overview: The purpose of the Analysis phase is
to ensure that a foundation is built that will allow
performance improvement to take place. Our process
combines the best qualities of many traditional models,
including ADDIE and ISD. We feel that the Analysis
phase is the most critical because it provides the framework
to allow training success for the future.
Objectives: The key objectives of the Analysis phase
are:
- Identify the target audience(s).
- Determine the skills, knowledge, and behavior
required in order to perform job functions at a high
level.
- Identify areas of opportunity for training projects.
- Analyze any perceived performance problems.
- Define the expected outcomes of training.
- Identify any performance metrics that can be used to
benchmark the success of training.
Methodology: Some of the tools used by MST
during the Analysis Phase are:
- Written surveys
- Interviews of key personnel
- Observation of job tasks
- Development of competency models
- Analysis of work flow and work processes
